Auto-arranging slides versus a finished deck

Beautiful.ai's central idea is the Smart Slide: pick a layout, add content, and the slide re-balances itself so it never ends up crooked. There are more than 300 of them. It is a genuinely good answer to the problem of a person building slides by hand, and it keeps the person in the driving seat the whole time.

Skiaw's answer starts one step earlier. You describe the deck; the engine researches it, writes the argument, chooses the structure and designs every slide before you see anything. You then refine it in conversation. Nobody picks a layout, because picking a layout is part of what was delegated.

Neither is strictly better. If you enjoy building the deck and want the tool to stop it looking amateur, Beautiful.ai fits your hands. If the deck is a chore standing between you and the meeting, Skiaw removes more of it.

What happens to the file when it leaves

Both tools import and export PowerPoint, and Beautiful.ai lists PowerPoint import/export and PDF export on every paid plan. What its public pages do not describe is how the exported file is constructed, whether fonts travel inside it, and how closely a Smart Slide's auto-arranged layout survives the trip. We have marked both rows undocumented rather than guessing at them.

Skiaw's whole pipeline is built around that file. The deck is laid out in a browser, the geometry is measured off the rendered page and converted directly into PowerPoint shapes, exact arithmetic at our canvas size, not an approximation, and TrueType fonts are embedded into the file so it looks the same on a machine that has never seen them. A second, web-safe copy is produced as well, because PowerPoint on the web rejects files with embedded fonts.

If your deck is going to be edited by someone else in desktop PowerPoint, that difference is the one worth testing on your own content before you commit to either tool.

Where the words come from

Beautiful.ai's “Create with AI” starts from your prompt, an outline or a document you supply, and lets you adjust the structure before it builds slides. The content is yours, shaped by the tool.

Skiaw searches the web and reads the files you attach before writing anything, then builds a brief in which every figure carries a tag resolving back to its source, and those tags appear on the slide. That is the difference between a deck that formats what you already knew and a deck that arrives with material you did not have.

It cuts both ways. If your content is confidential and you want nothing added from outside, Beautiful.ai's model is the more predictable one.

The team question, answered honestly

This is where Beautiful.ai is clearly ahead. Its Team plan adds real-time collaborative editing, a centralised slide and template library, shared assets, version control, engagement tracking, live data linking and workspace permissions; Enterprise adds SSO, SCIM, audit logs, brand guardrails and a stated SOC 2 Type II, CCPA, PCI and GDPR posture.

Skiaw has none of that today. There is no co-editing, no shared library, no viewer analytics and no SOC 2 attestation. If several people build one deck at once, or if procurement runs a security review, Beautiful.ai answers questions Skiaw currently cannot.

The counterweight is price and scope. Beautiful.ai's Team plan is $40 per user per month billed annually; Skiaw's Team plan is $49 a month including two seats, with extra seats at $20. For a pair of founders the arithmetic differs sharply from a twenty-person sales org.
