A design canvas exporting to PowerPoint, versus a tool built for it

Canva is fundamentally a free-form design canvas — the same engine behind social posts, documents, and websites also builds presentations. Exporting to PowerPoint means translating a design-canvas layout into slide shapes, which is a different problem than generating directly into that format.

Skiaw's pipeline exists for one output. The deck is laid out in a browser, then geometry is measured off the rendered page and converted directly into PowerPoint shapes — there's no design-canvas format the file has to be translated out of.

This doesn't make Canva's export bad; Canva has invested heavily in PowerPoint compatibility precisely because so many users need it. It means the two tools are solving the export problem from opposite directions, and it's worth testing your own content in both before deciding it doesn't matter.

Can I bring my existing Canva decks into Skiaw?

Not as a direct import. You can attach a deck exported from Canva as .pptx when you generate in Skiaw, and it will read the content as a source document — but Skiaw builds a new deck from that brief rather than reformatting the existing design.

Why switch if Canva already exports to PowerPoint?

Canva translates a general design-canvas layout into PowerPoint shapes on export, since presentations are one of several things the same canvas builds. Skiaw's pipeline generates directly into PowerPoint's own shape format, with no design-canvas layer in between — worth testing on your own content if editability after export matters to you.
